Carl Hartman is an expert in corporate and independent small business leadership, with more than thirty years experience in growing successful organizations and companies; holding senior positions with Fortune 100companies in the heavy & light manufacturing, advertising & marketing, retail and top levels of the media industries. He lead and managed individual corporate divisions with revenue in excess of $150M per year. Additionally, Carl was trained for twelve years by Bill Sumner, at Tony Robbins as a coach and event speaker.

During his first year of undergraduate studies he garnered his first leadership position as the manager of communications and marketing at the defense contractor, Northrup-Grumman, supervising a staff of thirty in their communications, marketing, audio-visual, photography, motion picture and department. At Northrop, he had the privilege of being mentored by some of the leading executives at the company. Mr. Hartman was also trained by leaders in the TQM movement of the day, conducting trainings for engineers, manufacturing staff and administrative leaders. He was key in developing reports, presentations and events for US Government defense agencies. During this time he grew the company that would eventually become Getty Images.
Mr. Hartman was a key project manager (producer) and leader in the early days of developing electronic gaming software arena produced DOOM-3DOand Rise of the Robots-3DOfor Electronic Arts along with award winning interactive feature film Chess Wars: a medieval fantasydistributed by GT Interactive. This included leading and organizing complex software development.During the mid-1980’s, Mr. Hartman began working on a method to send video over telephone lines; eventually partnering with Whittaker Defense Systems, IBM and Pacific Bell to develop the technology that would evolve into video-on-demand.
Mr. Hartman then returned to corporate leadership as a senior executive at the Public Broadcasting Service to salvage an ailing business unit focused on integrating television, formal university education and interactive media. Carl utilized his leadership psychology training from twelve years training with the lead coach at the Tony Robbins Organization and formal training in Business Leadership at the University of Nebraska to repair the business, administration, finance, production and delivery systems at the network. Carl created a custom ERP system that provided for lean management of that organization, growing it to be three times more profitable than any other division. His national awards including being a co-producer for Reading Rainbow, developing several original television series and co-producing episodes for the American Experience; eventually, earning two Emmy Awards.
His work at PBS received the top award as Best of the Bestfrom the National Educational Telecommunications Association. His collaboration with experts at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute and School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University and production of interactive educational components for Monkey Trialfor the American Experience;the only project of more than 80 proof-of-concept submissions, selected for follow-on funding under the CPB Television of Tomorrowinitiative that eventually became the foundation for the smart television technology used today. Carl was also an Executive Producer of C.L.A.S.S.,a $20 million Star Schools grant from the US Department. of Education to create the first accredited on-line distance education high school for at risk students. Several of these projects included groundbreaking research into integrating leadership skills, marketing, neural programming, game design, theatrical story structure, theme park ride design and educational media constructs.
Mr. Hartman continued the development of computerized/database, ERP and business systems to manage multiple large, complex projects that assisted in managing massive number of assets that combined software, media, manufacturing production, manufacturing of ancillary products such as toys, games, etc. This system accommodated project managers individual working style, adapted to their unique neural processing abilities and provided senior management tracking of real time business metrics.
Mr. Hartman has also served as a successful senior executive business consultant and coach within multiple vertical markets including medical practices, light manufacturing, mining, retail, technology, construction, entertainment software, real estate, insurance, agriculture, alternative fuels, mining, advertising, and non-profits. His clients increased their profitability about ten times the norm. He has served as a consultant to hedge funds and bond funds in the area of mining acquisition, real estate and entertainment industry projects. His major executive clients included MCA/Universal, Warner Brothers Television, Disney, Witt-Thomas-Harris, Donald Belisario, Dreamlight Images, Party City, Foote, Cone & Belding Advertising and DMB&B-Chicago, RCA, HobbyTownUSA, Giorgio, Lexus and Walgreens.
Carl Hartman holds a B.A. in Cinema from Columbia – Hollywood, an A.S. in Arts & Communications from Moorpark College, Moorpark, CA, and is an alumni of the Business Management & Leadership program at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Carl serves on various community and state boards, has testified before state legislatures on behalf of public media. He guest lectures at major universities and is available to speak at large business groups on the subjects of business leadership, marketing, advertising and leveraging AD/HD in business. He also served as an adjunct professor in the area of Graphic Arts and Communications at Front Range Community College. Additionally, Carl was personally mentored by the lead coach at Tony Robbins for more than twelve years, graduating from their exclusive Leadership Academy. He co-wrote one of the Leadership Academy training programs. Key members of the Robbins Organization have requested to speak at Carl’s leadership training workshops.
